Inter Partes Requests Filed the Week of November 16th

Reexamination requests are typically reported in the Official Gazette approximately three months after filing. Such a delay in reporting requests, particularly for inter partes requests which often involve significant copending District Court litigation, is unfair. We will therefore review the Patent Office files each week to identify inter partes reexamination requests filed the previous week.
This past week, the following requests were made:
(1) 95/001,265 – U.S. Patent No. 6,821,841 owned by Intermec IP and entitled Passive RFID Tag That Retains State After Temporary Loss of Power. A corrected request was filed November 19, by Alien Technologies.
(2) 95/001,267 – U.S. Patent No. 6,377,439 owned by Murata and entitled Electronic Multilayer Ceramic Component. The request was filed November 18 by Samsung.
(3) 95/001,268 – U.S. Patent No. 6,486,916 owned by John Stevens and entitled Highly Luminescent Color Selective Nano-Crystalline Materials. The request was filed November 19.
